  • Students will learn to shape their own wire form and add tiny treasures to encapsulate them forever in a wearable piece of art. Students will create two pendants or a pair of earrings. Bring a special treasure to add to your piece!     Create this high fashion wrap bracelet in the style of Vietnamese designer Chan Luu. Students may use gemstones, wood/bone, or glass beads, and their choice of leather in various sizes and colors. Choose from a single, double or triple wrap bracelet.   • In this introductory class, we will cover all the fundamentals of wire wrapping. Learn everything you need to make the right decisions about which wire to use for your project. Class includes an overview of wire types, gauge, characteristics and tools needed to start playing with wire. Students will leave with one or two free form wire-wrapped sea glass pendants.   • Learn the art of pearl knotting in classes at The Twisted Bead & Rock Shop
    Learn the method used for centuries to traditionally knot freshwater pearls with silk cord. You will work with a mix of beads and pearls.   • Using chain nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters, students will create a pair of cluster earrings or 3 pairs of drop earrings while learning the Loop-and-Wrap technique. Your choice of beads and findings. You can also use this technique to make pendants, bracelets, necklaces, dangles and much more. Students will leave with a completed project.   • Build on your Kumihimo with beads technique and use up some of your leftover beads. Choose a color scheme, bring a selection of beads to this class and you will learn to set up your disc and start your bracelet. Bead suggestions include drops, daggers, 4-6mm gemstones, pips, magatamas and more. This class is for experienced Kumihimo braiders. You must have experience with Kumihimo using beads.   • Have you ever wanted to add a little something extra to your Kumihimo braiding? In this class, students will learn how to add beads to their Kumihimo braid using S-LON beading cord and size 8 seed beads. Once you get this basic bracelet done you can incorporate many different types of beads into future projects. You will need to select your materials prior to the day of class. Pre-requisite: Basic Kumihimo Braiding Students must arrive at class with their strands pre-loaded with beads; class time does not include stringing.   • We are so pleased to have local artist Michael Dennis to teach us how to work with cold connections and metal. Learn to use rivets, eyelets and jump rings with the appropriate tools. Cut your metal, texture and apply a patina to your finished piece.  Mike’s meticulous finishing techniques are something to aspire too. Learn from a real expert!

  • Cold Connections: Level  2 class works with base metals using a variety of cold connections.  This class builds off information learned in Mike’s level 1 class using more complicated techniques and finishes. Class will include folding, making jump rings, different riveting techniques, texturing and more complex assembling of pieces. We encourage you to bring at least one project you are working on or would like to do that requires  the “how do I put this thing together now?”  Design is one aspect of jewelry making, how to put it together is a whole other ball of wax! Completion of the Level 1 cold connections class and some experience working with jewelry tools is encouraged.   • Precious Metal Clay (PMC) earrings that can be made in a design class at The Twisted Bead & Rock Shop.

    This class is designed to offer basic instruction in metal clay techniques. Class time allows for creation of two pairs of earrings.  Roll, cut and texture your jewelry components. The pieces will be kiln fired, tumbled to a high shine and then add a patina to highlight the design elements of your pendant and/or earrings. This is a perfect opportunity to get your hands into this medium, and have fun creating your one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces!  Barb always has something new to bring to our classes!
