In this introductory wire wrapping class, we will cover all the basic fundamentals of wire. Learn everything you need to make the right decisions about which wire to use for your project. Class includes an overview of wire types, gauge, characteristics and tools needed to start playing with wire. Students will leave with one or two free form wire-wrapped sea glass pendants. While creating a professionally finished bracelet, students will receive an overview of the basic tools, findings, design techniques, and the proper way to crimp on beading wire. Kumihimo is a fun and easy Japanese braiding technique. In class, you will choose your colors of rat-tail to braid a bracelet or anklet. We will explore different options for finishing your piece and how to incorporate charms or a pendant. Take advantage of this quick and versatile technique to add to your skill set. Once familiar with the process, you will be prepared to take the more advanced class using seeds beads. Recommended age is 8+ years. This PMC, precious metal clay class, is designed to offer basic instruction in metal clay techniques. You will learn to roll, cut and texture your jewelry components to create your own unique pendant. You will attach your bail and inlay a CZ of your choice. The pieces will be kiln fired, tumbled to a high shine, and then add a patina to highlight the design elements of your pendant. There is a 45-minute break during the firing time which you may have your lunch. The class starts at 9:00 and will finish around 2 pm. -
Cold Connections: Level 2 class works with base metals using a variety of cold connections. This class builds off information learned in Mike’s level 1 class using more complicated techniques and finishes. Class will include folding, making jump rings, different riveting techniques, texturing and more complex assembling of pieces. We encourage you to bring at least one project you are working on or would like to do that requires the “how do I put this thing together now?” Design is one aspect of jewelry making, how to put it together is a whole other ball of wax!
